Dental School
The Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), has its origins in the year of 1962, with the creation of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Campo Grande, in Campo Grande city, that would be the embryo of the public higher education system in the south of the then state of Mato Grosso. The beginning of the activities of the first institution of public higher education took place on 08/07/1964, with the operation of Pharmacy and Dentistry courses.
The Dentistry course was authorized by the Resolution CEE/MT nº 3, of 11/06/1964, implemented the same year and recognized by Decree nº 67.383, of 15/10/1970 (DOU of 16/10/1970), with the creation of the State University of Mato Grosso (UEMT) in 1970. In 1977, with the division of the state of Mato Grosso was born the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, capital city Campo Grande, and the State University of Mato Grosso became the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2005, through the Resolution nº 39, of 26/10/2005, of the University Council (COUN), the Dental School (Faodo) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul was established. So far the Dentistry course belonged to the Center of Biological and Health Sciences. On 31/10/2005, at a ceremony held at the Amphitheatre of the Clinical Analysis Laboratory (LAC), the Rector Manoel Catarino Paes Peró signed the Ordinance RTR nº 530, naming as director of the Dental School the professor Dr. Rosana Mara Giordano Barros, who directed the School until June 2013.
